This course is for new medics who wish to become advanced scope medics who work on the core interfacility transport ambulances full time. This course will teach the principles and skills to perform the role of advanced scope paramedic in Michigan. Topics include: Advanced scope protocol review, invasive line management, ventricular assist devices, advanced scope pharmacology, advanced scope patient assessments, advanced scope IV pump management, and advanced scope documentation.
Note: This course is for Superior Ambulance employees only. You will be paid to attend this course and must be in uniform. Please be on time, if you are late you will need to reschedule, the attendance policy will apply to this course/shift.. We will have a working lunch. State of Michigan CE credits will be issued. The expanded scope paramedic course prepares the paramedic to assess and manage patients at the Tier 1 level of care. Participants must be a licensed paramedic for a minimum of 6 months before they will be allowed to operate at the Tier 1 level. Training includes advanced assessment techniques, documentation, expanded pharmacology, infusion management, physiolgy and management of patients with cardiac assist devices, and continuous bladder irrigation. Participants will learn to use the Sapphire IV pump.
This course is for currently employed paramedics at Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Michigan, who meet the criteria.
